Schlechte Nachrichten für Kunden von Wien Energie und EVN: Die beiden in der Energieallianz Austria (EAA) organisierten Unternehmen heben ihre Preise für Strom und Gas ab 1. September an.
Bad news for customers of Wien Energie and EVN: The two companies organized in Energieallianz Austria (EAA) are raising their prices for electricity and gas as of September 1.
Für durchschnittliche Haushalte mit einem jährlichen Verbrauch von 2.000 bis 3.500 Kilowattstunden (kWh) steigen die Stromkosten dadurch um 36 bis 57 Euro pro Monat.
For average households with an annual consumption of 2,000 to 3,500 kilowatt hours (kWh), this increases electricity costs by 36 to 57 euros per month.
Für Gaskunden mit einem Verbrauch von je nach Haushaltsgröße durchschnittlich 8.000 bis 15.000 kWh macht der Kostenanstieg 60 bis 108 Euro aus. Betroffen sind alle Standardtarife, also jene ohne Preisgarantie oder "Floating"-Vereinbarungen (die monatlich an die Großhandelspreise angepasst werden).
For gas customers with consumption averaging 8,000 to 15,000 kWh, depending on household size, the cost increase accounts for 60 to 108 euros. All standard tariffs are affected, i.e., those without a price guarantee or "floating" agreements (which are adjusted monthly to wholesale prices).
Im gesamten Jahr schlägt die Tariferhöhung also mit bis zu 2.000 Euro zu Buche. Ausschlaggebend sind die "dramatischen Preisanstiege" im Großhandel, wie es in einer Aussendung heißt. Denn Strom kostet die Versorger im Einkauf derzeit etwa dreieinhalb Mal so viel wie vor einem Jahr.
Over the year as a whole, the tariff increase will therefore cost up to 2,000 euros. The decisive factor is the "dramatic price increases" in wholesale, as stated in a press release. Electricity currently costs utilities around three and a half times as much as it did a year ago.
Beim Gas ist der Anstieg mit Plus 323 Prozent noch höher. Die beiden Unternehmen ziehen deswegen die ursprünglich für Jänner 2023 angesetzte Tarifanpassung vor. In Zukunft sollen die Preise zwei Mal pro Jahr angepasst werden, nämlich im Oktober und im April.
In the case of gas, the increase is even higher at plus 323 percent. The two companies are therefore bringing forward the tariff adjustment originally scheduled for January 2023. In future, prices are to be adjusted twice a year, in October and April.
Um die Teuerung abzufedern, bieten die Unternehmen ihren Kunden Rabattaktionen. Mit "zusätzlichen Bindungs- und Treueaktionen" soll der Anstieg für Kunden von Wien Energie bei Strom auf weniger als ein Drittel und bei Gas um die Hälfte reduziert werden.
To cushion the inflation, the companies are offering their customers discount campaigns. With "additional retention and loyalty campaigns", the increase for Wien Energie customers is to be reduced to less than one third for electricity and by half for gas.
Auch EVN-Kunden können sich bis zu 17 Prozent der gesamten Stromkosten zurückholen. In Niederösterreich greift zudem der von der Landesregierung beschlossene Strompreisrabatt.
EVN customers can also recoup up to 17 percent of their total electricity costs. In Lower Austria, the electricity price rebate adopted by the provincial government also takes effect.
Rechnet man die Maßnahmen der Bundesregierung, wie etwa Energiekostenzuschuss und Klimabonus ein, kann die Belastung für eine typische vierköpfige Familie mit Einfamilienhaus dadurch auf einen Anstieg von etwa 10 Prozent – oder knapp 20 Euro pro Monat – begrenzt werden, so ein Sprecher zum KURIER.
If one includes the measures of the federal government, such as energy cost subsidy and climate bonus, the burden for a typical family of four with a single-family house can be limited by this to an increase of about 10 percent - or just under 20 euros per month, a spokesman told KURIER.
Die betroffenen Kunden werden im Laufe des Augusts per Brief über die Tarifanhebung und Rabattaktionen informiert. Kunden der Energie Burgenland sind vorläufig nicht betroffen. Obwohl das Unternehmen ebenfalls in der EAA ist, soll die Tarifanpassung dort erst im Jänner erfolgen.
Affected customers will be informed of the rate increase and discount promotions by letter in the course of August. Customers of Energie Burgenland are not affected for the time being. Although the company is also a member of the EAA, the tariff adjustment there will not take place until January.
Wegen der Strompreiserhöhung appelliert Wiens Finanzstadtrat Peter Hanke (SPÖ) nun an den Bund: „Es ist extrem wichtig, dass jetzt bundeseinheitlich Maßnahmen gegen die Teuerung umgesetzt werden“, sagt er zum KURIER.

Erstaunlich ist seine Forderung an den Bund deshalb, weil Hanke erst am Dienstagabend erklärt hat, dass die Stadt die geplante Gebührenerhöhung für Müll, Kanal und Wasser vielleicht aufschieben könnte – entgegen der bisher bekannten Parteilinie.

Laut dem Wiener Valorisierungsgesetz geschieht die Gebührenerhöhung automatisch, sobald der Verbraucherpreisindex um mehr als drei Prozent steigt. Was heuer der Fall ist. In Niederösterreich sieht die SPÖ die Schuld für die Teuerung bei der ÖVP-geführten Landesregierung.

Schließlich sei das Land Mehrheitseigentümer der EVN AG. "Sollte sich die EVN gegen faire Preise sträuben, muss das Land das Unternehmen wieder übernehmen", so SP-Chef Franz Schnabl. Nach dieser Logik wäre in Wien allerdings die rote Landesregierung zuständig.

Die ÖVP Niederösterreich verweist darauf, dass man ja einstimmig – mit der SPÖ – im Vorfeld deshalb den Strompreisrabatt beschlossen habe.
