Dominic Thiem wird beim Generali Open in Kitzbühel vom 25. bis 30. Juli sein Österreich-Comeback feiern. Dies haben die Veranstalter des mit 597.900 Euro dotierten ATP-250-Sandplatz-Klassikers am Samstag bekanntgegeben.

Dominic Thiem will make his Austrian comeback at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel from July 25 to 30. The organizers of the ATP 250 clay-court classic, which carries a purse of 597,900 euros, made the announcement on Saturday.

Der 28-jährige Niederösterreicher, der erstmals seit seinem Titelgewinn 2019 in der Gamsstadt antreten wird, spielt damit zum ersten Mal seit Oktober 2020 (in Wien) wieder vor heimischen Fans.

The 28-year-old Lower Austrian, who will be making his first appearance in the Gamsstadt since winning the title in 2019, will be playing in front of home fans for the first time since October 2020 (in Vienna).

Thiem spielt zum zehnten Mal im Rahmen eines ATP-Turniers in Kitzbühel, wo der Ex-US-Open-Sieger viele Meilensteine seiner Karriere gesetzt hat. Erste ATP-Punkte, erstes Match auf ATP-Ebene, erstes Finale (2014) und erster Titel auf heimischem Boden.

Thiem will play for the tenth time in an ATP tournament in Kitzbühel, where the ex-US Open winner has set many milestones in his career. First ATP points, first match at ATP level, first final (2014) and first title on home soil.

„Wir wissen, dass Dominic es liebt, vor heimischem Publikum zu spielen. Wir werden alles daransetzen, beste Stimmung ins Stadion zu bringen und hoffen, dass er diesen Schwung mitnehmen und in Kitzbühel an alte Erfolge anknüpfen kann“, meinte Turnierdirektor Alexander Antonitsch in einer Aussendung.

"We know that Dominic loves to play in front of his home crowd. We will do everything we can to bring the best atmosphere into the stadium and hope that he can take this momentum with him and continue his old successes in Kitzbühel," said Tournament Director Alexander Antonitsch in a statement.

Thiem werde sich in guter Gesellschaft befinden, weitere Namen im Teilnehmerfeld will man vorerst aber noch nicht preisgeben. Aus aktueller Sicht darf der Center Court nach zwei schwierigen Coronapandemie-Jahren wieder voll sein.

Thiem will be in good company, but further names in the field of participants will not be revealed for the time being. From today's point of view, the center court may be full again after two difficult years of corona pandemic.
