Mehr Lärm, gefällte Bäume und zu wenig Radwege: Gleich drei Bürgerinitiativen kämpfen – trotz positiver Umweltverträglichkeitsprüfung – weiter gegen den Ausbau der Bahntrasse zwischen Hütteldorf und Meidling.

Wien. Eine malerische Villa inmitten von riesigen Kastanien, zu hören nur Vogelgezwitscher: Einen passenderen Ort als das ehemalige Klimt-Atelier hätten sich die Hietzinger Bürgerinitiativen für ihre Pressekonferenz nicht aussuchen können.

Schließlich soll mit ihrem Protest gegen den seit Jahren geplanten und ebenso lang umstrittenen Ausbau der Verbindungsbahn genau dies erhalten werden: Die Natur, die Ruhe, das historische Stadtbild.

Im Zuge der Neugestaltung, die von 2024 bis 2028 angesetzt ist, soll die Bahntrasse mit zwei zusätzlichen Haltestellen ausgestattet werden, die S80 künftig im 15-Minuten-Takt unterwegs sein.

Ende März ist das Projekt vom Klimaschutzministeriumim Umweltverträglichkeits-Prüfverfahren abgesegnet worden, dagegen wollen nun gleich drei Bürgerinitiativen, die Umweltorganisation „Alliance for Nature“ und der Klimt Verein Beschwerden beim Verwaltungsgericht einbringen.

Die Stadt handle diametral zu ihren eigenen Klimazielen, so Pelz. Zusätzlich befürchten die Hietzinger zunehmenden Lärm – denn die Bahntrasse soll auch fit für den Güterverkehr gemacht werden.

"They do what they want." Hietzing district leader Silke Kobald (ÖVP) is also not happy with the project, but is keeping a low profile: on Friday she called for an ideas competition for the design of the route between Wientalbrücke and Rosenhügelsteg.
Dass nun auch anderemitreden dürfen, ist ein kleines Zugeständnis der ÖBB. Ein „Wermutstropfen“ sei jedoch, dass Brücken undStationen nicht Teil des Wettbewerbs sind. Man wolle im historischen Hietzing keine „0815-Fertigteil-Architektur der ÖBB“, sagte Kobald. Kommen wird diese wohl trotzdem.
