Er hatte die Rede noch nicht begonnen, da gab es für den Kanzler den ersten Schreck-Moment, oder genauer: Für die 1.300 Gäste in der Grazer Helmut-List-Halle. Denn Karl Nehammer hob an mit: „Der Sebastian hat mir vorher ein SMS geschrieben.“ Kurzes Nachdenken im Saal.

Letztlich war Sebastian Kurz letzter Auftritt vor den Funktionären mäßig spektakulär (siehe unten). Gemeinsam mit Fürsprecher Wolfgang Schüssel erklomm Kurz die Bühne. Er sprach von der „unglaublichen Ehre“, die ihm an der Spitze der Partei zuteilgeworden sei.

Damit ist man auch schon wieder beim neu gewählten Parteichef und seiner Rede. Angelegt auf eine gute halbe Stunde, brach der Regierungschef mit seiner Zeitvorgabe – und das war nicht nur zu seinem Vorteil.

Immerhin hat man mit dem Koalitionspartner viele große Krisen zu bewältigen: Corona, Krieg und Teuerung. Apropos Grüne: Sie hat Nehammer demonstrativ aus aller Kritik ausgenommen.

Und dass der ÖVP-Chef die Freundschaft zwischen der grünen Klubchefin Sigrid „Sigi“ Maurer und ihrem Pendant „Gust“ Wöginger gleich an zwei Stellen erwähnte, war als Zeichen der Wertschätzung gedacht. Die Botschaft: Mit den Grünen ist es zwar mühsam, aber es klappt.
And the fact that the ÖVP leader mentioned the friendship between the Green club leader Sigrid "Sigi" Maurer and her counterpart "Gust" Wöginger in two places was intended as a sign of appreciation. The message: It may be difficult with the Greens, but it works.
Die Zustimmung zu ihrem „Mister 100 Prozent“ lässt die ÖVP manche der jüngeren Unwägbarkeiten vergessen lassen.
The approval of its "Mister 100 percent" makes the ÖVP forget some of its more recent imponderables.
Egal ob die Parteifinanzen-Affären in Vorarlberg, die Affäre um die betrunkenen Cobra-Beamten im Umfeld der Kanzlerfamilie oder die Chats und der Korruptions-U-Ausschuss: All das hatte die Stimmung der türkis-schwarzen Parteifamilie zuletzt eingetrübt.
Whether the party finance scandal in Vorarlberg, the affair about the drunken Cobra officers in the vicinity of the chancellor's family or the chats and the corruption subcommittee: All this had recently clouded the mood of the turquoise-black party family.
Mit Nehammers 100 Prozent war das vergessen. Zumindest an diesem Wochenende.
With Nehammer's 100 percent, that was forgotten. At least this weekend.
